TRELLIS & EQUIPMENT SHEDS – Spring 2001
Site
T.T. Minor Elementary School
1698 East Union Street
Seattle, WA
Program
The request was to build two garden/storage sheds and reconsider the relationship of the asphalt play yard to the street edge (a chain link fence).
Design
The class designed a 150-foot long garden along the street with a linear concrete bench and amphitheater. In homage to the tradition of double-dutch at T.T. Minor, the garden is shaded by an undulating jump rope-inspired trellis. The trellis also shelters the storage sheds, which were prefabricated in the CAUP shop.
